Purpose Fast Decalcification Solution is a product with HCl used for rapid softening of calcified tissues and dissolution of calcium salts.
Ingredients 37% hydrochloric acid.
Working Principle Hydrochloric acid (HCl) is a strong acid and can dissolve calcium salts such as calcium phosphate (Ca3(PO4)2) and calcium carbonate (CaCO3). This dissolving process allows the dissolution and removal of minerals from calcified sections of tissue. The rapid decalcification process helps to preserve the morphology and cellular structure of the tissue, which is important for histological examinations.
Warnings, Precautions, Recommendations Danger May corrode metals. Causes severe skin burns and eye damage. May cause respiratory irritation. Wear protective gloves/ protective clothing/ eye protection/ face protection. Wear protective gloves/protective clothing/eye protection/face protection. If swallowed: Rinse mouth. DO NOT attempt to void. IF IN CONTACT WITH SKIN (or hair): Immediately remove all contaminated clothing. Rinse skin with water/shower. IN CASE OF CONTACT WITH EYES: Rinse carefully with water for several minutes. Remove contact lenses if fitted and easy to do so. Continue rinsing. INHALATION: If breathing is difficult, remove the affected person to fresh air and hold in a comfortable position to allow easy breathing. In case of exposure: Call the NATIONAL POISON ADVICE CENTER, TELEPHONE 114 or a doctor/physician.
