Purpose It is used to show Gram positive (+) and Gram negative (-) bacteria by light microscopy.
Ingredients A-Gram Crystal Violet Solution: Crystal violet, ethanol, ammonium oxalate.
B- Gram Acetone Alcohol: Ethanol 96%, methanol, 2-propanol, acetone.
C- Gram Lugol Solution: Iodine, potassium iodide, ethanol 96%.
D- Gram Fuchsin Solution: Fuchsin, phenol and 96% ethanol.
