Title Description
REF No 2100
Purpose EDTA Buffered Decalcification Solution, Slow is a product used to decalcify (remove calcium) calcified tissues such as bones and teeth.
Ingredients EDTA disodium salt, Methanol, Formaldehyde, Glycerol, Citric acid.
Working Principle EDTA (Ethylene Diamine Tetra Acetic Acid) is a chelating agent that binds calcium ions and removes them from the tissue. This method provides the softness required for histological examination of bone and dental tissues and allows the tissues to be cut with a microtome. EDTA works by forming strong complexes with calcium ions (Ca2+). These complexes remove calcium ions from the tissue and provide decalcification. The slow effect of EDTA helps preserve tissue morphology and cellular structure, which is an important advantage in histological and microscopic examinations.
