Purpose It is used manually to prepare microbial suspensions at various concentrations and for turbidimeter calibration.
Ingredients
Working Principle McFarland tubes are reference suspensions with a specific turbidity value. This turbidity value corresponds approximately to a specific bacterial concentration (CFU/mL). Turbidity and actual cell count are not exactly the same for every bacterium. The reasons for these differences are:
• Cell size
• Cell shape
• Light scattering properties
Warnings, Precautions, Recommendations Follow the safety rules for laboratory work. Shake well before use. Do not open the cap. Avoid splashing into your eyes. Do not freeze the product and keep it away from high temperatures. Bring to room temperature before use. Do not use products past their expiration date. Store at 5-25°C and in the dark.
