Title Description
REF No 2125
Purpose 10% Formalin Buffered Neutral Fixative is used in histology and pathology laboratories to preserve tissue samples for long periods of time and to fix them for microscopic examination. It is especially ideal for: preserving biopsy and surgical tissue samples, preventing deterioration of morphology, providing fixation suitable for staining (H&E, Immunohistochemistry, etc.), and providing stabilization by cross-linking proteins and cellular components.
Ingredients Formalin, phosphate buffers
Working Principle Formaldehyde binds proteins within the tissue, hardening and protecting the tissue. The buffer system prevents acid formation, thus reducing tissue shrinkage compared to acid fixatives. It supports the protection of cell membranes and ensures that tissues are fixed as close to their natural structure as possible.
