Title Description
REF No 2104
Purpose It is a classic buffered fixative solution used in histology applications where morphological preservation and nuclear detail are important. It can be used for the morphological preservation of lung epithelial tissue and alveolar cells.
Ingredients Formaldehyde, Methanol, Phosphate buffer
Working Principle Schaeffer buffered fixative is a solution containing formaldehyde or formalin derivatives, and its components provide a pH-balanced environment through buffer systems. Formaldehyde stabilizes cellular structure and tissue architecture by forming cross-links in proteins. The buffer system maintains controlled pH, reducing acidic or basic artifacts and enabling more controlled inhibition of enzyme activity. This contributes to obtaining reproducible results, particularly in histochemical and immunohistochemical studies.
Warnings, Precautions, Recommendations Danger. May cause severe skin burns and eye damage. May cause respiratory tract irritation. The product may contain formaldehyde or formalin compounds; if swallowed, inhaled, or absorbed through the skin, it may be harmful, and prolonged exposure may carry a risk of causing cancer. Avoid breathing the product's vapors or mist. The work area should be well ventilated, preferably using a chemical fume hood. Chemical-resistant protective gloves, appropriate protective clothing, eye protection, and face protection equipment should be used. If the product comes into contact with skin or hair, contaminated clothing should be removed immediately and the affected area washed thoroughly with water. If inhaled, move the person to fresh air and keep them in a position where they can breathe comfortably; seek immediate medical attention if symptoms persist. In case of eye contact, immediately rinse eyes thoroughly with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes; if contact lenses are present and can be easily removed, do so and continue rinsing; seek medical attention if irritation persists.
