Crystal violet (also known as gentian violet) is a basic dye used in amyloid staining kits. This staining method is used to make amyloid plaques prominent. |
| Warnings, Precautions, Recommendations |
Hazard Highly flammable liquid and vapor. Keep away from heat/sparks/flame/hot surfaces. Wear protective gloves/protective clothing/eye protection/face protection. IN CONTACT WITH SKIN (or hair): Immediately remove all contaminated clothing. Dry skin with water/shower. |
| Application
|
1. Cover the preparation with reagent A. After 5 minutes, remove the reagent by shaking.
2. Cover the preparation with reagent B. After 15 seconds, shake off the reagent.
3. Wash very carefully with distilled water until the acid effect of the reagents is removed.
4. Cover the surface with water-based covering medium without drying. Examine under a microscope. |
