Purpose |
Orcein acetic stain is a special dye used to facilitate the examination of biological tissue samples under a microscope. Orcein is a natural dye derived from a species of lichen and is usually mixed with acetic acid. This dye is effective in highlighting cellular structures such as chromosomes and elastic fibers. |
Ingredients |
Orcein, Acetic acid |
Working Principle |
Orcein acetic stain is used for visualization of chromosomes during mitosis and meiosis. This is particularly important in cell division studies and genetic research. Elastic fibers are found in connective tissues and become prominent under the microscope when stained with orcein stain. This is used to study the distribution and structure of elastic fibers in histological examinations. |
